See this TripWow and more at tripwow.tripadvisor.com excellent day trip to Segesta, Erice & Trapani After a nice breakfast at the hotel (included in the overnight tariff), we were picked up by our guide for the day, Salvatore (once again, we turned out to be the only people taking this particular tour today, so we ended up being personally escorted all day!) Travelled 70km to ancient Segesta, marvelling at the hilltop township ruins, famous Segesta temple, beautiful Segesta theatre taking in magnificent views over towards the coastline, across large surrounding valleys, agricultural land....outstanding vantage points where the ancient peoples cited their towns (so as to see enemies far away, and also to make a show of might & strength) We walked all around the temple, then took one of the buses which run every half hour up the nearby hill to the summit, where the theatre & old town ruins are sprawled across it. BTW, the path to the temple, from the car/bus parking area, while quite wide, was somewhat precarious in sections, loose underfoot, with numerous places to slip or tiwst one's ankle, especially given the large number of elderly tourists we saw making the trip. Next, we were off to the town of Trapani, right on the coast, with part of the older section jutting out in a spit into the two adjoining seas.
